Family Updates

Sorry, no pictures with this post. I am too busy trying to do/finish the yearbook to upload and sort.........but we have some great happenings in the Winn household.

Andrew was chosen to be a sound tech for the 5th grade play/musical - Aladdin. He does not like to be on stage, but wanted to be involved and is so excited for the opportunity. So right now his current activities include....saxophone (band before school 1x week), play practice, basketball intermurals, scouts and baseball. Phew! I couldn't say no to the play as I love when he tries new things. Last year he tried chorus and art club, but didn't care for them. He also started saxophone and intermurals which he enjoys.

Steven is anxious to get on stage so I am looking for a local amateur theater group (we have a ton, just finding one closer with a children's production is hard). He enjoys scouts and is building a rocket to launch at their next meeting. He is so excited to spend his birthday (this Friday) sleeping at the Franklin Institute with scouts (and Dad and Andrew).

Kendyl is growing too fast! She is now eating cheerios and "puffs" like a pro (chewing) and will soon be able to feed herself. Tonight she ate the same dinner we had - her first REAL food. Homemade chicken rice soup. She loved the rice, peas and corn. And she can devour a graham cracker in no time. She has been fighting a stomach bug since Wednesday (and so kindly shared with Steven and I) so she is eating a lot less, but wants more challenging foods.

Tim - well I hope to post some amazing news for him soon. In the meantime he continues to be a wonderful Dad and husband, and amazing chef (yes, he does most of the cooking). He is working out in the yard every chance he gets, he just loves it. He tilled the garden and planted strawberries today. And of course scouts. He is working on some more fun things for the spring.

Me - trying to stay afloat with the yearbook, work and being a mom. Hmmmmmmm, guess I'd better clean the house too! With the consignment sale behind me (made some $$ off some of the boys clothes and baby items we already no longer need - boohoo), I hope life will slow down a bit so we can start enjoying more family time and do some work around the house. If I could hire a driver for Andrew, life would be much easier!

Easter

Our Family
Doesn't Kendyl look like such a big girl? It must be because the Easter Bunny brought her her first tooth!!! Actually her first teeth - yup, both bottom teeth arrives Easter morning. Too cute!

Here are the kids with their great grandparents.

Our wonderful kids!

Big Girl!

Egg Hunts

The EB is very generous and hides eggs both inside and out! He hides the hardboiled eggs inside (and a few plastic) and hundreds of plastic ones outside. We have breakfast in between the hunts (and we had to wait for Kendyl to wake up from her nap). It was cold, but fun.
Sylvester tries to help Steven.

Easter Baskets

The Easter Bunny was good to our house! Each basket had matching candy. Andrew's was green (m&ms, kisses, bunny and peeps), Steven yellow and Kendyl purple.

Waiting to find out what the EB left for them. We have a rule that no one can go down stairs until we are all ready.

Louie Louie

Tim's long lost brother..................just kidding.
Our favorite CubMaster found the ultimate entertainment for the Blue&Gold Banquet - a chimpanzee!!! Louie (you have seen him in recent Jackson Hewitt tax comercials) came to educate and entertain the crowd. We usually have a rowdy bunch, but they were mesmerized by Louie and his Dad, Greg. Even the parents were good! Unfortuanately the kids were unable to shake hands or hug Louie (due to the size of our event), but Tim was able to spend some time with him before and after the event (benefits of the CubMaster) and I was able to shake his hand and hang out with him a bit. Totally amazing experience!
Below you will see Andrew was able to walk up (slowly) and hand him a Tiger Cub hat as a small gift to him - and so he would look more like the crowd.

Steven is hanging out having fun with some of the decorations.

Andrew won an award for the Pinewood Derby (his pretzel car) for most unusual! His 2nd time winning this award.

Where's Kendyl?!?!!? She had her first sleepover at Grandmom and Grandpop's house. She was such a good girl, eating up a storm like usual, and sleeping 13.5 hours!!!

Cholesteatoma

Steven has been battling ear aches this winter. Started Christmas Eve with an ear infection which took 2 courses of antibiotics to fight. Then he had another one the middle of February. Well, he's been complaining AGAIN and the pediatrician yesterday said it is not infected, but the eardrum didn't look right and he wanted us to see the ENT right away. So much so that the nurse called to book our appointment for the same day!!!

Andrew was home sick with a headcold and I just thought we were running Steven to the Dr. for medicine and then to school. Nope! Came home for a few hours, then off to the ENT (thankfully Andrew wasn't too sick). His hearing test went well (thank goodness) but the Dr. used a microscope to look in his ears (and had me look too - kinda cool) to see that he had normal scar tissue (from the tubes when he was a toddler) on his right ear drum, but the left ear drum the scar tissue is behind the ear drum. A collection of skin particles or a small cyst. This will have to be removed as it causes infection, and would get larger. So we have to schedule Steven for a CT scan to ensure that the cyst is not attached to anything else (bone!) so he can plan the proper procedure. Steven isn't quite aware of all of this yet, we'll tell him after the CT results. Poor baby has to suffer until then, so hopefully we can schedule this quickly.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Had to Share!

Happy Birthday Mom (Grandmom) and Pete (Grandpop)!!!

Happy Birthday!!! We went over to visit and celebrate for lunch today. The boys made them birthday brownies (with m&m topping), and we all had fun hanging out. Well, except Kendyl. She just wanted to eat and sleep (so she is crying in most photos).
Happy Birthday!!!

Playground Fun!

Kendyl's first time at the playground!!! It is a beautiful day here, so after visiting Grandmom and Grandpop, we decided to stop for some fresh air. Kendyl loved the swing, and tolerated going down the slides (I think she even may have liked it!). She even went down the big tunnel slide with Daddy, and with Mommy (phew, I forgot what a climb that is!). Guess it's time to get her swing out for our playset.

Pinewood Derby!!!

Andrew's Philly Soft Pretzel car! It was the slowest of the Weeblos, but the most tasty and most original - AND he can honestly say he made it all himself. When Tim and Andrew stopped at the pretzel bakery in the morning, they guy asked them what they were doing (shirts) and they explained that Andrew made a pretzel car for their pinewood derby. Andrew's car was quickly sponsored and he was provided with a bag of free pretzels. They want him to bring pictures back, and will give him a shirt (they didn't have any that morning).

Steven decided to make a firetruck, complete with working light. His actually had some speed (came in 2nd for most races) and he made it with Tim, using the dremel, painting it himself, and adding all of the detail.
Of course the cubmasters daughter had to make a car!!! Unfortuantely she slept through race time, but she was the youngest participant! She had the prettiest, sparkly car in the room.
We didn't have any winners for speed in the family, but I'm sure one of the boys will win for their amazing paintjob. We'll find out in a few weeks at the Blue and Gold banquet.
